What this does
A VPN hides your real IP address by sending your traffic through another network. But browsers have a feature called WebRTC, used for video calls, that can reveal your address directly. This test compares the address websites see with every address WebRTC exposes, and checks which network each belongs to. If WebRTC shows an address from a different network while your VPN is on, your real IP is leaking.
How to use it
- Turn your VPN on and open this page. The test runs by itself.
- Read the result at the top: green means no leak was found.
- Change a VPN or browser setting and press Run the test again.
FAQ
What is a WebRTC leak?
WebRTC lets browsers make video and voice calls. To connect calls it can reveal your network address to the website, sometimes your real one even while a VPN is on. That is a WebRTC leak.
How do I fix a WebRTC leak?
Turn on your VPN app's leak protection, or use a browser setting or extension that limits WebRTC, such as uBlock Origin's option to prevent WebRTC from leaking your local IP. Then run the test again.
Does this test check DNS leaks?
No. A DNS leak test needs special DNS servers that see your lookups. Most VPN apps include their own DNS leak protection; check that it is switched on.
