Privacy Policy

useforfree (“we”, “us”) runs the website useforfree.app. This page explains what data the site handles and why. The short version: our tools run entirely in your browser, and we never upload your files, recordings or anything you type into a tool.

Data you use in the tools

When you use a tool — for example, the microphone and camera test — all processing happens on your device. Camera video, microphone audio, snapshots, recordings, PDF files and PDF passwords are never sent to us or to anyone else. They disappear when you close the page, unless you choose to download them to your own device.

Access to your camera or microphone is only requested when you press a button to start a test, and your browser will always ask for your permission first. You can withdraw that permission at any time in your browser's site settings.

What Is My IP tool

To show your IP address, approximate location and internet provider, the What Is My IP page asks our server, which reads this information from your connection through Cloudflare. To show your hostname, the server looks up your IP address with Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 DNS service. The result is sent only to you. We do not store or log it.

The page also shows a map of that approximate location, loaded by your browser from OpenStreetMap. To draw it, OpenStreetMap receives the approximate coordinates and, like any website you load, your IP address. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation privacy policy.

Information collected automatically

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes basic technical information (such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

We do not use analytics. The site shows ads from Google AdSense, which collects information as described under Advertising below.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set cookies ourselves. Google and its advertising partners may set cookies or use similar technologies to show and measure ads (see Advertising). Some tools may save your preferences (such as a chosen setting) in your browser's local storage so they are remembered next time. This data stays on your device and you can clear it in your browser settings.

Advertising

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Learn more in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors' cookies at www.aboutads.info. Where required by law, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before personalised ads are shown.

Ads never get access to your camera, microphone, recordings or anything you do inside a tool.
