Remove Watermark from PDF

Take a “Draft” or “Confidential” watermark off your own PDF. Your file never leaves your device.

What this does

This tool finds watermarks that a PDF stores as watermarks and removes them, leaving the rest of each page untouched. That covers watermarks added with Adobe Acrobat's watermark feature, with our Add watermark tool, and watermark layers or annotations from other apps. If the watermark is simply drawn into the page, it tells you so instead of damaging your document. Everything happens in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Choose a PDF or drop it onto the box.
  2. Wait a moment while it looks for watermarks.
  3. If one is found, download the clean PDF.

FAQ

Which watermarks can be removed?

Watermarks that the PDF stores as a watermark: ones added with Adobe Acrobat's watermark feature, with our Add watermark tool, or as a separate watermark layer or annotation.

Why can't some watermarks be removed?

Many watermarks are drawn as ordinary page content, or are part of a scanned image. They look no different from the real text and pictures, so they can't be removed without damaging the page.

Is it okay to remove a watermark?

Only remove watermarks from documents you own or have permission to change, such as your own drafts. Removing someone else's watermark can break copyright law.
