Dead & Stuck Pixel Test

Fill your screen with solid colours to find dead or stuck pixels, and try the flashing fixer on stuck ones. Everything runs in your browser.

Click a colour to go full screen. Then click / tap or press → / ← to change colour, and Esc to exit. Clean your screen first so dust isn't mistaken for a bad pixel.

Tip: a warning may show flashing colours — skip the fixer if you are sensitive to flashing lights.

🖥️ Your screen

Native resolution is screen size × pixel ratio, so browser zoom changes it — press Ctrl+0 (⌘0 on Mac) for the true value. Refresh rate is measured and approximate; battery saver can lower it.

What this does

This dead pixel test fills your screen with solid colours so faulty pixels stand out. A dead pixel is a tiny black dot that never lights up. A stuck pixel stays one colour, showing as a bright dot on black or a wrong-coloured dot elsewhere. The fixer flashes colours quickly, which can sometimes bring a stuck pixel back.

How to use it

  1. Wipe your screen clean so dust isn't mistaken for a dead pixel.
  2. Press Start full-screen test (or pick a colour).
  3. Click, tap, or use → and ← to move through the colours.
  4. Look closely for any dot that's the wrong colour.
  5. Press Esc to exit. For a stuck pixel, run the fixer over the spot for a few minutes.

FAQ

What is the difference between a dead and a stuck pixel?

A dead pixel stays black on every colour because it gets no power. A stuck pixel stays on one colour — red, green or blue — because one sub-pixel is fixed on. Stuck pixels can sometimes be fixed; dead pixels usually cannot.

How do I find a dead pixel?

Go full screen and step through each solid colour. Look closely for any dot that stays the wrong colour: a black dot on the white or coloured screens, or a bright dot on the black screen. Clean the screen first so dust isn't mistaken for a dead pixel.

Can the fixer repair a stuck pixel?

Sometimes. The flashing mode rapidly cycles colours, which can nudge a stuck pixel back to life. Run it over the stuck area for several minutes. It will not fix a truly dead pixel.

Is this test safe for my screen?

Yes. Showing solid colours is harmless. To be cautious, don't leave a single static colour on an OLED screen for a very long time, and avoid the flashing fixer if you are sensitive to flashing lights.
